Kent Courtney Civil War Railroads

By: Craig Shipp

Kent Courtney tells the story of how Railroads helped to win the American Civil War for the North by out supplying the South.  With the extensive transportation network that the North had built up, moving troops, animals and supplies to the battle fronts was speedy and effective.  The South had a much smaller network of railroads, which limited the South's ability to feed troops in the field and keep them supplied with the essential tools of war.  Some historians say the the North out supplied the South, but couldn't out fight the South.  Kent includes two railroad songs from the 1800s plus a track gang holler that was used to coordinate the laying of track.  http://www.KentCourtney.com  Video by http://www.CraigShipp.com in association with http://www.AreaCable.com and http://www.CivilWarMedia.com
